Local Network Ip Address Range
Web hosting over dial up internet?
Is it possible to host my own web hosting site over dial up internet. Please do remember every time I connect(dial) internet I get a new IP address and it is not dedicated IP. My local address(shown in network icon) is in range 10.x.x.x but my gateway IP(shown in who.is) is in range 119.x.x.x . I use apache as web server.
Now is it possible that my hosted sites can be shown over internet when i connect to internet and started web server?
It depends on how your isp has configured their network. If the 119.x.x.x address is your public ip for the duration of the session then you can use dyndns.org as suggested above and use that as a server address.
If on the other hand if 119.x.x.x is the address of a NAT box then no, you cannot connect a server and have it reachable from the internet without your isp setting it up for you.
The NAT setup is the more likely of the two.
